Program Overview

This 16-module online curriculum is designed as an 18-month refresher cycle for certified Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs). It reinforces awareness and competency aligned with the Paramedic Association of Canada (PAC) National Occupational Competency Profile (2016) and the CSA Z1210:2 standards.

  • Modules are intended for monthly completion and emphasize ongoing professional development, knowledge retention, and applied clinical awareness.
  • All modules must be completed on time in order to maintain status within the program
Program Delivery & Evaluation Summary

Requirement: 16 modules online (monthly release; 45–60 minutes/module); 1 module in-person (annual class; 4-4.5 hrs)
Cycle: 18 months (includes 2 months for review or make-up sessions - 6 clinical modules completed annually with 12 auxilliary courses)
Delivery: Blended (online self-directed + annual in-person skills validation)
Assessment: Quizzes, scenario-based testing, case-based reflections, and skills checklists
Completion Criteria:

  • Minimum 80% on all knowledge checks

  • Completion of all 16 modules within 18 months

  • In-person annual skills sign-off (airway, trauma, CPR/AED)

  • No critical errors on any delegated medical directives
Outcome:

Upon completion, EMRs will maintain current knowledge and demonstrate awareness of all competencies outlined in the PAC EMR NOCP, supporting professional accountability, safe practice, and ongoing registration or employer certification requirements.
