WSIB First Aid Program information

Mosaic Medical Academy is a WSIB-approved First Aid Program training provider. Our workplace first aid courses are delivered in alignment with CSA Z1210:24 and Ontario First Aid Regulation 1101 requirements.

Approved course standards

The following instruction times and Ontario equivalencies apply to WSIB-approved workplace first aid courses:

  • Basic First Aid: 8 total instruction hours, including 3.5 hours of practical skills instruction; equivalent to Emergency First Aid under First Aid Regulation 1101.
  • Intermediate First Aid: 16 total instruction hours, including 7 hours of practical skills instruction; equivalent to Standard First Aid under First Aid Regulation 1101.

Successful completion requirements

Certification requires all of the following:

  • Meeting the mandatory attendance requirement.
  • Passing the in-person practical skills assessment.
  • Achieving at least 70% on the written examination. One examination retake is permitted within 60 days of the first attempt.

Blended learning requirements

A blended First Aid course combines online theory with mandatory in-person practical skills training.

  • The online portion must be completed before the in-person portion.
  • The in-person practical portion must be completed within 60 days of completing the online portion.
  • Online completion and learner participation must be validated through provider records, assessment, and progress tracking.

Certificates and recertification

Ontario workplace first aid certificates are valid for three years from the date of issue.

An unexpired Intermediate First Aid certificate may be recertified once through an approved recertification course. After that recertification expires, the full course is required.
